FufuLène is a conceptual ceramicist whose practice stems from a dual background: a PhD in sociology and a degree from the San Telmo School of Art in Málaga. Her unique career path combines critical analysis of social norms with the ancestral craft of sculpture and pottery. Her artistic language is part of a long history of dialogue between the humanities and the arts, nourished by references ranging from the thinking of Foucault to the corporeality of Louise Bourgeois.
With their strange aesthetics and uncomfortable beauty, FufuLène's works question the social norms that govern our bodies and emotions. Among other pieces, her fountains address our aversion to bodily fluids (menstruation, snot, cum, etc.). She challenges viewers to confront their own emotions, contradictions and prejudices. By revealing what is inappropriate, she denounces the underlying symbolic and emotional violence, such as in the constant ambivalence towards women's sexual desire.
FufuLène is also passionate about geometry and pushing the technical boundaries of ceramics. She has created a brand of sculptural porcelain objects, Calligramme, which she develops alongside her artistic practice.
Her work, exhibited in Andalusia and Spain, has been a finalist in several international competitions. FufuLène seeks to deepen her artistic practice through ambitious collaborations. She aspires to create larger immersive installations that renew our ability to see, narrate and think about our world by means of a quasi-visceral empathy.
